Radical Richard organized and leads
a “Peace March” through down town to the central police station.
A dozen concerned activists of all
ages spend an hour marching for peach and justice through the city.
The gathering started point was
at the Iron Elephant statue on 6th and NW Burnside at the North Park Blocks. The group followed Richard to…
stand across from Powel’s Books for a while, then over toPioneer Square,
and then on to the police station on 3rd street. Holding a few signs and yelling a few chants along the way.
No problems to report, this was
a peaceful march of concerned citizens. Exercising their right of free speech in their city.
Mostly the group was met with respective
waves and honks of acknowledgement, by cars or other people we passed along on the sidewalks.
The invitation for next week at
the same time and same place was extended to all by Richard at the end of the march.
I was unofficially given the following
text regarding Richard’s reasons for this
“call-out against injustice
here locally and abroad”
I added it at the end of the 9:30
minute YouTube video, which is titled “Radical Richards Peace March 11.16.08”
As the list
of chalk names of dead soldiers goes by the
recruiting
office, protesters stand at the monthly vigil outside the doors. This protest is held on the second Saturday of every month
A
man from the recruiters office starts shouting down the protest near the end of this video. I ask him "what about the soldiers
who have committed suicide ... what about
their message and their voices?"
Support
The Soldiers by bringing the - "Troops Home Now!"
On Sunday 3/9/08 the commemoration of the 49
years of China's Occupation of Tibet was acknowledged. With speakers and a march in Portland Oregon in solidarity with Tibetans
living in exile. Who were and are exposed to human rights violations, genocide, involuntarily imprisonment, deforestation

There is concern that China who is hosting the 08 Olympic
is not following its agreement to improve the human rights in its country. The march highlights China un-willingness to cooperate
and to be just. There is no justice as long as China is suppressing the truth and the flow of information in their country,
and by neglecting international concerns of human rights abuses. China....Shame
Shame!
It is held weekly in downtown PDX .... they meet at Pioneer Square on Friday
